is a city which is famous around the world for its history
and beautiful architecture. It has always been
important in the areas of science and literature.
Dolly the sheep was created here in 1996 and the world
famous character of Sherlock Holmes was inspired by
Conan Doyle's lecturer at the University Medical School
in the nineteenth century.
It
is home to four respected universities including the
prestigious University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582.

How
to get here
Edinburgh
is situated in Central Scotland, 5 hours by train from
London and approximately 1 1/2 hours by air. If
you come here by train you will arrive at Waverley Station,
in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre. If you
arrive at the airport you will be 8 miles from the city.
To teach the centre you can take the airport bus 100
(Adult single: £3.50 and Adult return: £6.00)
which takes around 30 minutes.

Getting

has a very good bus network, voted top in the UK in
2002 and 2003. The main company is Lothian Buses.
If you are staying for longer than a few weeks you might
